Brother Wharfing is a Pox Monk of the Retschman's Order. He is dressed in white robes, face and skin bearing scars and inflammations of sicknesses. One of his shins is fractured repeatedly, a burn on his leg, and a 3000 volt 'blessing' of the Saint Electric on his stomach. After the events of Chapter 11, he has a black wound encrusted in barnacles on his forearm.

Personality[]
Brother Wharfing is confident, laid-back, and seems to exist very much in balance with the gods. He goes so far to state that 'the dump doesn't like it when we interfere'. He is comfortable with the concept of having led Paige to die, seemingly tempting it, by sending her off into the dump. He has undoubtedly saved lives, but given his attitude towards deaths, seems more to take it as personal challenge, or as worship towards his god, rather than altruism. Still, ultimately, positive impact, chill guy.[1]
Notable Events[]
Brother Wharfing is sought out by Carpenter and Paige at a dump to the Emperor-In-Rags to fix Faulkner's injury, which is developing worse and worse. He does so for free, due to the uniqueness of the injury, but demands payment if he is to fix Carpenter's leg. He then asks for a soda (separate to the discussion of payment, but given that they are reliant on his goodwill for Faulkner's survival, there is a power dynamic involved) and Paige goes off to find one in the dump. He then sets about healing Faulkner, till dusk falls. At the sighting of creatures of the Emperor-In-Rags patrolling the waste, Carpenter realises the risk he has put Paige into, and threatens to kill him if Faulkner dies which she goes to seek Paige. When they both return, Faulkner is no longer god-bitten, and will recover. It is potential that either having his life threatened did not endear Carpenter to him, or simply that the unexpected strength of Faulkner's injury took a lot out of him, but either way, he does not offer to fix Carpenter's leg, and takes his leave.[1]
Brother Wharfing is found tending to Eliza. He helps her despite the fact she can't see or interact with him, and despite the fact that doing so sometimes distresses her. He cares too much about how utterly lonely her life would be without his small acts of kindness to consider leaving her completely on her own,[2]
